24 HOUR SAR EXPERIENCE MAY 30

Welcome to the OWR 24HR SAR EXPERIENCE.

Operating in the rugged West MacDonnell Ranges, you’ll move through gorges, rocky ridgelines and remote terrain where real decisions matter. This is not a classroom — it’s immersive, scenario-driven training built on real-world wilderness medicine and search and rescue principles.

Your 24 hours begins with instruction in SAR safety, mission planning, search systems, search patterns, survival skills and helicopter safety.

Then you’ll be tasked with a full SAR mission in the West Macs for a lost or injured hiker.

You will:

🔥 Fly into the SAR location by helicopter
🔥 Plan and execute the search
🔥 Navigate rugged West Macs terrain
🔥 Locate, access and assess the patient
🔥 Formulate treatment, rescue and extraction plans
🔥 Extricate the patient to safety
🔥 Provide prolonged field care overnight
🔥 Manage changing terrain, logistics and patient needs
